Monument to Decembrists
Russia, Tyumen region, Yalutorov district, the city of Yalutorovsk.
Description:
The city of Decembrists is called the city of Yalutorovsk in the Tyumen region. Nine Decembrists lived here: Basargin N.V., Vranitsky V.I., Entaltsev A.V., Muravyov-Apostol M.I., Obolensky E.P., Pushchin I.I., Cherkasov A.I., Yakushkin I.D. From 1829 to 1856, the life of the Decembrists was most closely connected with this small Siberian city.
The grateful residents of the city of Yalutorsk carefully preserved everything that was connected with the life and activities of the Decembrists - the house where they lived, the grove where they studied the nature of the local region.
In the central part of the city on the Decembrist Square, citizens erected a memorial in honor of the heroes of December 1825, great people who lost everything in their lives for the benefit of the people and the Motherland. The author of the monument was the famous sculptor V. E. Matrosov, who worked on the memorial Mamaev Kurgan in Volgograd. The monument is a sword-shaped stele around which there are sculptural busts of all nine Decembrists.
