Monument to George Wilhelm Steller

d. Tyumen, Dunkin Garden

Description:

The first scientist, a researcher of Kamchatka and the Aleutian Islands, collected a huge amount of material, was arrested on false charges on the way back to St. Petersburg, caught a cold and died in Tyumen 37 years old.

At the place where it is planned to install a monument to the naturalist, now there is a modest slab with the inscription "The famous naturalist George Wilhelm Steller, who connected Europe, Asia and America with scientific research."
