Peter and Paul Church

Tyumen, st. Communist, 10

Description:

The Church of the Holy Trinity Monastery in Tyumen is a unique monument of the history of Siberia. The temple has a peculiar appearance mainly due to the cross-shaped plan of the building.

The five-domed church was built over thirty years and was completed in 1755. Having survived a severe fire in the middle of the 19th century, the temple was almost completely rebuilt on the donations of a well-known patron at that time. In Soviet times, the church was destroyed and was in desolation, and in 1988 the sanctuary was restored, but only for the opening of the Tyumen Museum of Crafts. In 1995, the church and the entire monastery were finally revived and are now used exclusively for its intended purpose. Today, anyone can visit this church of difficult fate, feel the power of its unusual beauty and bring prayer to God in it.
