In August 1837, it was renamed Alexandrovskaya in honor of Tsarevich Alexander Nikolaevich, who was in Tyumen passing.

In 1879, a luxurious Renaissance building was erected on the square according to the project of the artist architect E. S. Vorotilov. Initially, it was the Tyumen School, and now the Agricultural Academy is located. In 1915, the construction of a square with benches began on the square of the fighters of the revolution. In 1957, on the 40th anniversary of the revolution, a sculptor E. A. Gerasimov cast a sculptural group – a peasant and a worker under a red banner. The monument was erected on a mass grave, where the Red Army soldiers who fell in 1918-1921 in the battles for Soviet power are buried. In 1967, the square officially received its current name.
