Remembrance Square

ooh Melnikate, 111, Tyumen, Tyumen region, Russia

Description:

Memory Square is one of the most popular places in Tyumen. There is a memorial in memory of Tyumens who died on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, as well as a soldier's alley and a mass grave of soldiers who died in Tyumen hospitals. Work on the creation of the memorial complex lasted from 2000 to 2003. Massive pylons were installed on the square, on which the names of about 6.5 thousand Tyumens, who laid down their heads in the bloody battles for the Motherland, were marked.

Famous architects V. Anisimov and R. Sahabutdinov worked on the creation of the memorial project. In the center of the square is a stele, made in the form of a 29-meter candle. In 2007, three bells were placed over the Eternal Flame. The largest of them weighs 326 kilograms. On one of them is engraved the icon of the archangel Michael. Visitors and residents often gather here to honor the memory of the victims.
