Savior Church

Tyumen, Lenin Street, 43

Description:

One of the most beautiful temples of Tyumen is located at the crossroads of Lenin and Chelyuskintsev streets. This is the Savior Church, built in the style of Russian Baroque. It was built on the site of the first wooden temple in 1794. The church slightly changed its appearance after the reconstruction in 1887, when a massive two-storey papert was built on the western side by the architect B.B. Zinke. The next time the church was enlarged in 1916, when, on the initiative of the mayor A.I. Tekutiev and on the project of the city architect K.P. Chakin, a northern chapel was built, which significantly expanded the interior of the church. During his visit to Tyumen, Emperor Alexander II first visited the Savior Church and was pleasantly surprised by the luxury of its interior decoration.

So in the interior of the summer church, located on the second floor, there are fragments of murals made by the master of the Zolotorsk workshop Tobolsk philistine Peter Mikhailovich Belkov. During the Soviet regime, the Savior Church was used as a hostel, then as a library and funds of the regional local history museum. She is still recovering today. Earlier in the church was kept the miraculous icon of the Savior not made with hands, contributing to getting rid of the death of cattle and especially dangerous human diseases, but today it is lost.
