Holy Trinity Monastery

ooh Communist, 10, Tyumen, Tyumen region, Russia

Description:

Holy Trinity Monastery was built by monk Nifont in 1616 on the hill of the right bank of the Tura River. In its architecture, features of early Baroque are noticeable, experts say that the asceticism of its powerful cubic volume is significantly opposed to the facade decor, which has a baroque origin. In 1929, the monastery was closed, its buildings were used as hostels, the temple was looted and destroyed.

Since 1890, the monastery began to be gradually restored, and in 1997 the Theological School was opened here. In 2005, during the restoration, cardinal changes were made in the appearance of the monastery - the dome was covered with titanium nitride, imitating gilding, which adversely affected the severe monumental structure of the structure. In 2003, the first divine service was held in the restored Holy Trinity Cathedral, which fell on the feast day.

Today, the Holy Trinity Cathedral is still being restored, and with it the governor’s corps and the monastery church of Peter and Paul. But, unfortunately, half of the territory of the monastery is occupied by the services of Gorvodokanal. Every year thousands of tourists and pilgrims come here to enjoy the beautiful view of the cathedral and participate in divine services.
