Ovgort Museum of Local Lore named after Elena Ilyinichna Tylikova

The expositions of the museum acquaint visitors with the history, traditions and unique nature of the Son’s Land. After the move, the museum had storage facilities, as not all funds fit into the exhibition space, called “River of the Son: the world of people, the world of spirits, the world of nature”.

The institution conducts research work in a number of areas, including the study of forgotten crafts, such as making fish skins, weaving from sedge and cedar root, processing of talum bark, etc. This allows us to revive lost traditions and replenish the funds with unique exhibits.

One of the links in the work of the museum was the project “Live, River!”, which the head of the branch E.I. Tylikova developed together with ecologists and archaeologists from Yekaterinburg and Tomsk. The project is aimed at studying the historical heritage of Sons, preserving the ecological balance and traditional way of life of the indigenous population, attracting public attention to the problems of preserving the unique ecosystem of Sons.

The further development of the museum is seen as the Son Ecological Museum, where the concept of ecology goes beyond the natural-scientific and includes social and cultural aspects. The new exhibition was designed in this way.
