About the company:

Shuryshkarsky District Museum was founded on April 24, 1985 by ascetic in the field of education G.S. Puzyrev. In 2017, his name was given to the district museum complex.

The world fame of the museum and the Shuryshkar district was brought by a complex of precious silver dishes discovered in the 1980s in the village of Lophari, at the mouth of the Kunovat River. This is a collection of two lids and a reservoir of bowls produced by jewelers of Northern Europe in the XII - early XIII centuries, and a separately found Byzantine bowl depicting a medieval mythological story about the flight of Alexander the Great on griffins. The appearance of this amazing complex within the modern Shuryshkar region, scientists associate with the Vikings, whose ships, probably in the first half of the XIII century. made several trade expeditions along the northern sea route in the lower reaches of the Ob.

In the funds of the district museum this amazing exhibit came in 1985. In 1993, the cup with the Macedonian began its journey around the world as part of the exhibition of the State Hermitage “Treasures of the Ob region”. After 10 years, it was transferred to the Hermitage for permanent storage, and exact copies were made for the Shuryshkar Museum.

In 2007, the Concept of the development of museums of the Shuryshkar district was created, where the role of the Shuryshkarsky district head museum as a methodical center was determined. Since that time, a single stock and procurement commission and a scientific and methodological council have been operating in the complex.

Today, museums are united as part of the municipal budget institution "Shuryshkarsky District Museum Complex named after G. S. Puzyrev". Each of the museums, preserving its specificity, plans its own work, but numerous joint integrated projects unite them in the work on museum exhibitions, the organization of large museum events. Stock collections are centrally recorded. The collections of the district museum are 59,115 items of storage and represent the richest archival and subject material. In seven exposition halls there are regularly changing exhibitions about archaeology, history, nature of the region and the work of countrymen.
