Bashkir State Pedagogical University

ooh October Revolution, 3A/2, Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan 450,000, Russian Federation

Description:

Bashkir State Pedagogical University named after Miftahetdin Akmulla is one of the largest educational institutions of Ufa and is the successor of the best traditions of quality professional training of pedagogical personnel.

In 1909, the first teacher's institute appeared in the republic, and ten years later it was transformed into the Institute of Public Education, which was engaged in the training of teachers of schools and technical schools. The structure of this educational institution included four faculties. In 1923, the Institute began to train specialists in the field of agriculture. In 1929, the Bashkir State Pedagogical Institute named after Timiryazev was created on the basis of the teacher's institute, and in 1957 it was transformed into a university.

Despite the presence of higher professional education institutions in the republic, the need for further development of higher pedagogical education continued to be felt quite acutely. By the middle of the twentieth century, only a third of teachers in the region had higher education. In many specialties, training was not conducted at all, and it was decided to create another pedagogical institute. The new university has very successfully coped with the task, taking on a considerable load on the training of teachers. Already in 1976, it received recognition as a university of the first category, and in 2000 was named after the outstanding Bashkir poet and thinker Miftakhetdin Akmulla.
