Bashkir State University

The first speech about the opening of a pedagogical higher educational institution in Ufa came in 1905, and four years later the Ufa Teachers’ Institute opened its doors for future students. Initially, the institute was based in a small mansion on Telegraph Street (now Tsyurupy Street). Ten years later, the Institute of Teacher Training was transformed into the Institute of Public Education, and in 1923 it became known as “Practical” and began training agricultural specialists.

Over the next few years, no changes occurred until the Bashkir State Pedagogical Institute named after Timiryazev was formed in 1929, and the following year the structure of the institute changed - the former departments were replaced by faculties, which operated 15 departments. Simultaneously with these reforms, correspondence and evening departments were opened. This structure remained unchanged for a long time, and in 1957 the Pedagogical Institute was transformed into Bashkir State University.

Nowadays, Bashkir State University is a major center for training specialists of various professions, as well as a center for postgraduate education. In postgraduate studies, you can improve your qualification in 64 scientific specialties, and in doctoral studies - 13, more than a dozen dissertation councils also work. As for the university life of students outside of study, it proceeds brightly, actively and interestingly.
