Holy Spring Chapel

ooh Ferina, 15, Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, 450039, Russian Federation

Description:

The chapel of the Holy Source is an integral part of the architectural ensemble of the Bogorod-Ufa temple. It is located just a few meters north of the church, next to the surrounding residential buildings.

Tradition says about the miraculous appearance of the icon of the Kazan Mother of God. This happened in the 20s of the XVII century. Soon after gaining the miraculous image, the spring began to beat at this place, to which the people began to attribute healing properties and called it the “God’s Spring”. A wooden chapel was erected over the spring, and in 1901 the wooden chapel was replaced by a stone chapel.

Since the end of the XVII century and up to the 1930s, parishioners of the Church of God made a procession annually to the place of the appearance of the icon. This tradition was interrupted in 1944, when the chapel was destroyed, and in 1953 the source was destroyed. In the 1990s, after the church returned to the fold of the Orthodox Church, the processions to the spring resumed, and in 1993 the restoration of the chapel began.
