V. I. Lenin Park in the city of Ufa

d. Ufa, V.I. Lenin Park

Description:

In the middle of the XIX century, by order of the new governor, the improvement of the site began between the governor’s house and the Resurrection Cathedral, on which cattle were previously herded. And in honor of the governor, the new park was called Ushakovskiy. Despite the sign "Lower ranks and dogs are not allowed to enter", the park quickly became a favorite place of rest for all citizens.

Gradually, the park “overgrown” with entertainment – there was a carousel, swings, gazebos, a summer cinema and the first fountain decorated with sculptures of children fleeing from the rain. Almost immediately after the revolution, the name of the park was changed to “Freedom Park”, part of its territory was assigned to the sports field. In addition, the cemetery of heroes of the revolution and civil war was arranged in the park - now a memorial is on this site. After the Resurrection Cathedral was dismantled in 1934, a dance floor was built in its place.

After the war, the park was once again renamed and received the name of Alexander Matrosov. Some changes took place - instead of the old cast-iron gates, a gate with bas-reliefs of Lenin and Stalin was installed, and in 1951 a monument to Matrosov appeared on the alleys of the park. The park gained its modern appearance in the 80s. At the same time, it became known as the Lenin Park. Now it is a favorite place for walking.
