ooh Altai, 22, Muslim Cemetery, Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan 450076, Russian Federation
Description:
The name of the mosque "Gufran" is translated from Arabic into Russian as "Forgiveness". This is one of the oldest mosques in Ufa, the history of which was continued in the late twentieth century. The first wooden two-storey mosque on the site of the old cemetery appeared in 1909 and became known as the Fifth Cathedral Mosque. In 1960, the building was destroyed by fire, and a new mosque was built more than thirty years later - in 1994. The new mosque was built with private donations.
Now the mosque "Gufran" is a small cemetery temple, designed not only for ordinary worship, but also for funeral rites. Traditional Muslim holidays are also celebrated here. In addition, the mosque operates a Sunday school, where the youngest parishioners are taught the basics of Islam, taught to read the Koran. Every year, on the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, children’s competitions and cultural programs for guests are held here.
