Lake Muldakkul
Muldakkul, Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia
Description:
Lake Muldakkul (local call it Tozlokul) is translated from Bashkir as "salt lake". This is really a saltless drainless lake located in the Abzelilovsky district in Bashkortostan. Nearby is the village of Lake and Muldak-tau mountain. 15 kilometers to the west is the city of Magnitogorsk.
Muldakkul is located on the watershed of the Yangelka River and the Small Kizil River.
On the not steep banks of the reservoir grow halophytes (salt-loving plants) - saltros and bezkylnitsa. The forest is rare due to the large amount of salt. In some points along the shores and at the bottom of the lake there are large reserves of salty black healing mud, which are used by many sanatoriums of Bashkortostan.
