ooh Chernyshevsky, 100 (across the road), Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan 450077, Russian Federation

Description:

The monument to Felix Dzerzhinsky, the first chairman of the Cheka, is located in the city center in the park of the same name, not far from the former building of the Bashkir KGB, which is now occupied by the republican prosecutor's office.

The opening of the monument to Dzerzhinsky took place in 1987, in the year of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the October Revolution. The creator of the sculpture was the Leningrad artist A.S. Charkin. The monument was cast in bronze at the Leningrad enterprise. Dzerzhinsky is depicted in full growth, standing on a three-meter granite pedestal. Picturesque add pyramidal poplars, which were planted behind the monument at the same time as its installation.

Initially, it was planned to turn the monument so that it stood facing the front porch of the KGB, but by the decision of the chief architect of the city, the sculpture was deployed in the other direction. This is how it appears to residents and guests of Ufa today.
