Monument to the Heroes of the October Revolution and Civil War

ooh 50 years of October, 24, Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan 450,000, Russian Federation

Description:

On April 29, 1975, a monument to the heroes of the October Revolution and Civil War was unveiled in Ufa. This monumental creation belongs to the sculptor L.V. Kuznetsov, who worked on the creation of a new monument for nine years and was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Bashkiria.

On the pedestal stands a whole sculptural group consisting of several figures. Central is the figure of a blacksmith worker, in whose hands is a rifle. He brought it over his head like a hammer. On the right hand of him stands a Red Army man, and on the left - a peasant horseman. The closing link of the composition is the figure of an elderly fighter who was wounded and fell to his knee, clamping the wound with one hand, and the second continuing to hold his weapon. The three men in front of them are as if trying to cover their comrade with their bodies.

The height of the figures is 9 meters, and the total height of the sculpture together with the pedestal is 12 meters. The mass of all bronze parts of the monument is 95 tons. Production took place at the Leningrad plant "Monument-sculpture".

Among the inhabitants of the city in Soviet times, there was a joke about this monument - it was called "Without five seven". This is due to the fact that in front of it there was once a grocery store that worked until 19.00, and it is quite natural that the figures depicted on the monument caused an association with eager buyers to have time before closing.
