Monument to Russian Repressed Germans
Description:
In the Memorial Park, which is also known as the square of the 50th anniversary of the Victory, located behind the Palace of Youth, there are several city attractions. One of them is a memorial dedicated to the memory of repressed Russian Germans.
The monument is made in the form of a cross installed on a concrete pedestal, the lower part of which is lined with marble slabs. On the pedestal are engraved the following lines: "Russian Germans - victims of political repression." The inscription is made in Russian and German.
Today, more than 8,000 Germans live in Bashkortostan, most of whom are descendants of Russian Germans repressed by the Stalinist regime. Thousands of Germans were deported to Bashkiria to build industrial facilities. After the war, they stayed here with their families, and Bashkortostan became their second home.
