Monument to Chaliapin

Ufa is closely connected with the life and work of the outstanding Russian singer Fyodor Ivanovich Chaliapin. This is where his artistic career began. And recently, as a tribute to history, a monument to Chaliapin appeared in the city. The marble sculpture was installed in 2007 next to the building of the State Academy of Arts, in which the future genius debuted in December 1890.

The sculpture sketch was created by the Ufa monumental artist R. Hasanov, and the monument itself was created by the architect K. Donguzov. According to the sculptor, the monument was supposed to reflect the earliest period of the career of the talented bass, his youth. After all, at the time of his speech in Ufa, Chaliapin was a very young man, about whom no one had heard. That is why the marble figure of the singer seemed to freeze, worried and anxiously waiting for the reaction of the audience. The sculptor sought to portray in his work not a well-known and confident artist, but a person who takes the very first steps on the creative path.
