Soldiers' Lake

Soldatskoye, Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia

Description:

Soldier Lake is a lake located in the city of Ufa. Located in the park named after I. Yakutov in the Soviet district.

The lake is of karst origin, the water supply comes from underground sources. Since the water level in the lake often falls, there is an opinion that there is another underground lake under this reservoir. The diameter of the water surface is 250 meters.

The time of origin of the lake is unknown, but it has been marked on maps since the middle of the XIX century. There are several versions of the birth of the lake. According to legend, a soldier in leaky boots once passed by this lake and saw new boots next to the water, he put them on, and the boots led him into the abyss of water.

In 1904, a park was opened near the Soldat Lake, which later surrounded it. In the 1930s, the reservoir was cleaned and ennobled. Here for the first time organized boat trips.

In Soviet times, the lake was called “Komsomolsky”, but the name did not catch on. On the northern side of the lake until the 1990s there was a pipe through which the lake was fed with water. But when the pipe was removed, the water level in the lake at times decreased significantly and it became shallow, overgrown with shrub.
