Description:
The history of UGATU goes back to the XIX century, since it is a direct descendant of the Warsaw Polytechnic Institute. Founded in 1897, the Polytechnic Institute lasted until the first Russian Revolution. After the closure of the Warsaw Polytechnic, its funds and staff were transferred to Novocherkassk, the then Cossack capital.
In 1932, the Rybinsk Aviation Institute was founded, which was created on the basis of a branch of the Novocherkassk Aviation Institute, established in the late 1920s. The Ufa period of the Institute’s history begins during the Great Patriotic War, when the Rybinsk Aviation Institute was evacuated to Ufa. In 1942, it received a new name and was called Ufa Aviation Institute named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze. Forty years later, the merits of the university in the training of qualified personnel and the development of science were appreciated, and it receives a high award - the Order of Lenin. In 1992, the Ufa Aviation Institute received the status of a technical university.
The main motto of UGATU is: “Science is the foundation of quality education”. This principle is firmly adhered to here. The combination of science, production and education is the foundation of the university’s development. Today, the structure of the university includes 8 faculties, training is conducted in 61 specialties and 25 areas, and over the past 5 years, about two dozen new specialties and directions have been opened.
