Monument to Oblomov's Sofa

In Ulyanovsk you can find many unusual monuments, among which the symbolic philosophical sofa Oblomov deserves special attention. It was opened on October 28, 2005 in the park near the monument. It is a sofa just over two meters long, made of metal plastic. The main architect of the project was the chief artist of the Ulyanovsk region Igor Smirkin. A year later, on June 12, 2006, on the birthday of Goncharov, two small slippers of Oblomov appeared next to the sofa, cast by blacksmiths of the local forge artel Korch.
