Museum "Simbirsk Chuvash school". Apartment of I.Yakovlev

Established in 1868 by I.Yakovlev, the Simbirsk Chuvash Teachers School became a large cultural and educational center that united the male teacher school and women's pedagogical courses, primary male and female schools. Here studied Chuvashi, Mordva, Mari, Tatars and representatives of other peoples of Russia.

The pedagogical staff was also multinational. On the territory of the school estate there were six buildings: the lower building, the wooden wing, the building of the house church, the building of school workshops, the upper building, the building of the male two-class parish school.

All the buildings have survived to our days. Currently, the Ulyanovsk School of Culture is located in four buildings, in the building of the former house church there is a temple in the name of the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles, and in the upper building there is the Museum “Simbirsk Chuvash School”.
