Museum "Simbirsk classical gymnasium"

The only museum in Russia that almost completely reproduces the atmosphere of the Russian classical gymnasium. Nineteenth century, allows you to get an idea of its educational process, the most important components of which: fundamental scientific training; the possibility of unexamined admission to any university in Russia; the creative work of highly qualified teachers, many of whom were compilers of their own textbooks and methodological manuals, were engaged in scientific work.

The museum has restored the interiors of the gymnasium: classrooms, they have genuine teaching aids (globus of the starry sky, map of the hemispheres of 1841, etc.), a physical office (about 100 genuine teaching devices, can be demonstrated during the tour), an assembly hall, restored for the period of examinations for the certificate of maturity; "overcoat".

The documentary exposition reveals the history of the gymnasium (1809-1918), the system of its educational work, material about teachers (A.S. Arkhangelsky, B.P. Denika, F.M. Kerensky, Y.M. Steinhauer, etc.) and the most famous graduates (V.I. Ulyanov (Lenin), A.N. Naumov, V.P. Filatov, N.A. Rynin, M.N. Gernet, S.A. Buturlin, A.Korinfsky, etc.). Spatial-volume expositions are presented: a fragment of the interior of the director of the gymnasium, the home corner of the gymnasium student (a complex of personal belongings of the Zavyalovs).

The museum presents the diorama "Center of Old Simbirsk" with layouts of the interiors of the gymnasium, as well as authentic postcards and photos with views of the city. The historical and pedagogical orientation of the museum makes it especially attractive for schoolchildren, students and students.
