Dostoevsky Drama Theater
Russia, Veliky Novgorod, Veliky St., 14
About the company:
The history of the Novgorod Academic Drama Theater named after F. M. Dostoevsky begins in 1853. Since that time, thanks to the well-known in the middle of the XIX century entrepreneur Nikolai Ivanovich Ivanov, a permanent, albeit very improvised, theater appeared in the city. In Novgorod performances even capital stars took part.
In the modern building of the theater, the team moved in 1987. Quite original structure was built by architect Somov. Since 1997, the Novgorod Drama Theatre has been named after Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky. First of all, this is due to the fact that Fyodor Mikhailovich lived in Veliky Novgorod for several years, and his great works were born here. It is not surprising that in the permanent repertoire of the theater there are performances staged on the immortal creations of the great Russian author.
Today, the theater can simultaneously accommodate 850 spectators, the stage area is 694 square meters, the hall is equipped with modern sound and lighting equipment. In addition to performances, the theater hosts creative meetings, exhibitions and various presentations.
