Time theater. Trinity excavation

Veliky Novgorod and archaeology are inseparable things. At the Trinity excavation, which can be called, probably, the main and one of the largest in the city, everyone has the opportunity to make a trip to the past. From the XXI century, you can go down a thousand years ago and see with your own eyes the history of the city frozen in a multimeter cultural layer.

Research at the Trinity excavation has been conducted since 1973. Over the years, an area of more than 6 thousand square meters was studied, on which more than two dozen city estates of the X-XV centuries were found. Several hundred birch bark letters were found here, as well as the oldest Slavic wax book - the famous Novgorod Psalter. The most interesting find was the workshop of the artist Olisey Grechin, who worked in Novgorod in the XII century, as well as numerous household items, jewelry, children's toys and much more.

Schoolchildren and students take an active part in archaeological excavations, who annually practice at the excavation. Here history is studied literally bit by bit, specialists carefully review every centimeter of culture. Visitors of the "Time Theatre" provide a unique opportunity to hear a story about the latest findings from the first hand - scientists regularly conduct lectures and excursions for everyone. To visit Veliky Novgorod means to touch the origins, because it was here that the cultural traditions of Ancient Russia were formed.
