Veliky Novgorod

Factory-Museum "Krestetskaya line"

Description:

The tour includes a visit to the factory located in the Novgorod region (the village of Krestsy) 85 km from V. Novgorod.

The history of one of the famous Novgorod crafts - the sacretsky line - goes back to the end of the XVIII century.

The skill of sacral embroiderers quickly gained popularity, and already in 1911 at the exhibition in St. Petersburg, and later Port Said, New York, Montreal and Osaka, as well as in Italy received deserved recognition.

Fishing produces products decorated with end-to-end patterns of openwork embroidery made with white or harsh threads on the grid manually or partially on the machine. If necessary, some parts of the fabric are cut and in this place create the required ornament. The products of the masters are distinguished by the grace of the finest openwork geometric ornament, consisting of a complex interweaving of diamonds, sockets and stars inscribed in the background of large grids.

The assortment of modern craft presents a wide selection of table and bed linen, openwork themed panels, countertops, women's blouses, capes, embroidery of which is organically used the oldest technological techniques - "Vologda glass", "soap bubble", patterned and knock-down measurements, loose gypure.

Unique Novgorod embroidery was exhibited in more than 60 countries of the world. Even the Queen of England has a set of bedding, embroidered with the hands of talented sacral masters.
Traditions of folk craft carefully preserved to this day.

Krestetskaya line is a unique type of Russian folk through embroidery. Lightness and grace of the finest threads, among which intricate rosettes, stars, round multi-petaled flowers swirl in a cheerful roundabout.

Large forms are always surrounded by a scattering of small “spiders”, rims that make up a single decorative pattern. One such snow-white ornament is associated with the lush flowering of spring nature, the other resembles transparent winter glass, colored with frosty patterns. Such an unusual ornament, not found in other traditional centers of Russian folk embroidery, began to form in the Krestetsk Territory of the Novgorod province at the turn of two centuries. Clear geometric patterns, complex intricate drawings, prompted by nature itself, distinguish the sacral line.
