The main symbols of the city

You will appreciate the powerful defensive walls of the Novgorod fortress. Then go explore the territory of the Kremlin: consider the majestic Millennium monument of Russia, personifying the history of the country, and the famous Sophia Cathedral. “Where St. Sophia is, there is Novgorod!” exclaimed the medieval inhabitants. We will also visit the Lord’s Courtyard, where you will see the Faceted Chamber in the Gothic style.

Trade side

We will pass over the bridge over the Volkhov and find ourselves in the place where the princely court and the Trading used to be. I will show you the extant monuments of architecture of the XII-XVII centuries: St. Nicholas Cathedral and the temple of Paraskeva Friday. I will tell you why there are so many churches in the city and who was their customer, what are the similar fortresses of Novgorod and Moscow, where the legendary veche was gathered and what its participants discussed.

I invite you to touch the past and present of Veliky Novgorod together! You will visit the Kremlin, admire the ancient Sophia Cathedral, visit the Vladychny Dvor and see a rare example of Gothic architecture for Russia. Take a walk around the trading side and learn about medieval entrepreneurs.
