The Church of John the Theologian in Radokovitsa
Russia, Veliky Novgorod, northeastern outskirts of the city
Description:
On the banks of a small river Vitka in 1384 was built the Church of John the Theologian. The temple was originally part of the city convent, which was later abolished.
This is one of the few well-preserved monuments of Novgorod temple architecture. The uniqueness of this church is in the composition atypical for Novgorod temples: three windows with two narrow niches located on the southern facade of the building.
In 2001, the Church of John the Theologian was transferred to the Novgorod community of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church, which at its own expense carried out large restoration works of the temple.
