Description:
Cheremenetsky Ioanno-Theological Monastery belongs to the Russian Orthodox Church and is located in the Leningrad region on the peninsula of Cheremenetsky Lake. The first mention of the monastery dates back to the end of the XV century, but the exact date of its foundation is unknown. The complex included several buildings, including churches, cells, a mill, stables, etc. Most of them were built of wood.
In 1930, the monastery was ruined and closed, a children's boarding school and a gardening school were placed on its territory. Only at the end of the XX century it was decided to recreate the Cheremenetsky monastery. Churches were restored, domes rang, monks returned, the park was ennobled.
