Description:

One of the oldest male monasteries, was built in the XII century. Now it is inactive, since it was abolished in the 1920s, and its former splendor recalls only the Cathedral of the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the Trinity Church with a refectory, the abbot and the ruins of the northern sister corps.

Initially, the building was built of wood. Later in the XIV century stone structures appeared on the territory of the monastery. First, the temple of the Holy Spirit was built, in the XVI century the abbot Jonah was engaged in the reconstruction of the building of the Trinity Church. A hundred years passed and by decree of Archbishop Makariy, a two-storey refectory was built on the territory of the monastery.

The monastery was periodically attacked by the Swedes, there were fires. In the XVIII century, the monastery became female and was rebuilt, and later it was completely closed. After the end of the Second World War, the building was restored, but used as a warehouse.
