The museum was founded on the basis of the Museum of School No. 12 of the city on March 17, 1981. Initially, it was considered a folk museum, and later received the status of a state municipal museum. Currently, it has six thousand exhibits of the main fund, the historical department includes exhibits on the history of the Verkhnetagil cast iron and iron smelting plant of the times of Nikita Demidov. There is a corner of Mansi life, objects of archaeology, mineralogy, paleontology. The museum has a large number of stuffed animals that reflect the fauna of the region. |
The brick two-storey building of the museum, designed by architect G. A. Markov, is a monument of architecture and bears the features of Italian architecture of the XVIII - XIX centuries. |

Отличная экспозиция; добросовестные, влюблённые в свою работу экскурсоводы (готовы проводить экскурсию хоть для одного человека, хотя у меня был бесплатный билет). Самые положительные впечатления.
