Verkhnyaya Salda

It was founded as a settlement during the construction of an iron smelting and ironworks, founded in 1778 on the Salda River (the right tributary of Tagil). The factory produced grade iron.

Name by location on the river Salda; the definition of the upper indicates the presence downstream of the river city of Lower Salda. Hydronym is associated with the Mansi salta "fly, wet".

In 1931, a plant of metal structures and bridges was built, providing products to the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine, Uralmash, and others.
