About the company:

The Vladikavkaz Museum of History, located at the crossroads of Kirov and Revolution streets, has been decorating our capital for more than a century. The building of the museum, built in the style of “modern” according to the project of the famous architect E. Deskubes and owned by the publisher S. Kazarov, was once intended to house printing houses and editorial offices of Vladikavkaz newspapers and magazines. It was here that the magazine "Kazbek", newspapers "Kazbek" and "Terek" were published, with which Kosta Khetagurov, Gappo Baev, Georgy Tsagolov, Tsomak Gadiev actively collaborated, and Sergei Kirov, a prominent political figure of our country, also worked in the newspaper "Terek". At different times, the building of the museum housed the Gorsky Workers’ Conservatory, a Rabfak and a hostel. In 1940, the historical and revolutionary museum of S. Kirov and G. Ordzhonikidze was opened here, and on its basis in 1994, on the 210th anniversary of the founding of Vladikavkaz, the Museum of the History of the City of Vladikavkaz was created by the decision of the RSO-A Government. The grand opening of the museum after its last reconstruction and repair took place on February 14, 2013.

To date, the exposition of the museum is represented by a number of topics: the foundation of the fortress of Vladikavkaz, the accession of Ossetia to Russia, Vladikavkaz during the Great Patriotic War, the periodical press of the city of Vladikavkaz at the beginning of the XX century, Vladikavkaz in the works of writers, poets and artists.
