Description:
During this tour, you will learn how Vladimir was founded and became such a city. You will see the masterpieces of white-stone architecture of pre-Mongolian Rus - the Assumption and Dmitrievsky Cathedrals, the Golden Gate - the only monument in Russia of military-civil architecture preserved from the early Russian Middle Ages. I will tell you about how these magnificent monuments of ancient Russian architecture were created and about their further history, about how Vladimir became the capital of Russian lands and about the Mongol invasion. We will walk with you along the big Moskovskaya Street and Georgievskaya Street with a visit to the observation decks, see merchant mansions of the XVIII and XIX centuries, where I will tell you about the life of the city and citizens of the period of the Vladimir province.
On the way from Vladimir to Bogolyubovo you will learn many interesting facts from the history of the Vladimir land.
The village of Bogolyubovo is located 9 km from the center of Vladimir and has entered our history as the residence of the first independent Vladimir Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky. Here he built the "City of Stones named after Godly" with the palace of the prince and the magnificent Christmas Cathedral. The construction of the city was consecrated by religious miracles and it was here that Prince Andrew was killed by conspirators. After the death of Prince Andrew, one of the oldest Russian monasteries was founded here, which has a centuries-old history and is a place of pilgrimage for believers and a unique tourist attraction. The magnificent monastic buildings and the remains of the prince’s palace create a unique aura of peace and a sense of belonging to the great Russian history. I will tell you about the history of the monastery, its past and present, about the events that unfolded here in the distant XII century. This is a place where you should visit at least once in your life, having been here once, you want to come back here again and again.
Bogolyubov Bay Meadow is a unique natural phenomenon, 289 species of plants grow here, four of which are listed in the Red Book of the Vladimir region. On the path leading through the meadow we will reach with you to the Church of the Intercession on Nerl (1164). You can write a lot about it, but it’s something to see! The Church of the Intercession is one of the most lyrical works of ancient Russian architects. It is one of the smallest and most graceful temples: its total width is just over 10 m, and its internal height is 20.8 m. The church seems to hover over the bay meadow, so its architecture is light and magnificent! I will tell you about how it was built and its future, from the time of the death of Prince Andrew to the present day. Beautiful nature, silence and wonder of architecture Church of the Intercession on Nerli will not leave you indifferent, and I will try to hold for you an interesting and unforgettable excursion.
