Monument to Andrei Rublev
Description:
The monument to Andrei Rublev is installed in the historical center of Vladimir, on Cathedral Square, near the Assumption and Dmitriev Cathedrals.
A small bronze figure of the icon painter opens to our eyes on the way from the Golden Gate to the Kremlin, along the road that everyone who is passionate about travel and history passes.
The monument is neither grand nor pompous. Rublev is depicted at work, in a simple monastic robe, crouched on a stone, with a brush in his hand, which, in a moment, seems to touch the surface of the icon.
Due to the small scale of the figure, the simplicity and naturalness of the pose, the monument organically fits into the architectural environment of the city, is clear and proportional to the viewer.
The monument was made at the art casting plant in Mytishchi, installed in 1995 to the millennium of the city.
The creator of the monument is a wonderful Moscow sculptor O.K. Komov. In addition to the monument to Rublev in Vladimir, Komov owns the authorship and monument to Rublev in Moscow in front of the Andronnikov Monastery, and many outstanding figures of Russian culture - M. Lermontov, A. Pushkin, A. Venetsianov, A. Blok, etc.
