Trinity Red Church

Vladimir

Description:

In Vladimir, near the golden gate, in 1961 the Trinity Church was built. It was intended for the Old Believer community, which included representatives of wealthy merchants. This church has a second name – Red.

The temple was designed by S.M. Zharov, who studied with the architect L.N. Benois. The main building material used for the construction of the temple was red brick. The church was built in the style of eclecticism, and was a kind of combination of elements of ancient Russian architecture, narrowness and Byzantine style. Eclecticism implied the use of a massive main part topped with a “fire” top with one dome. Trinity was one of the last churches in Vladimir, built before the revolution. Services were held there for a short time, since the temple was closed in 1928.
