Primorsky Pushkin Theatre

Russia, Primorsky Krai, Vladivostok, St. Pushkinskaya, 27

About the company:

Primorsky Pushkin Theatre is located in a beautiful building combining features of Gothic and Art Nouveau, an architectural monument of the early XX century.

On November 30, 1908, the first season of the theater was opened. On that day on the stage, the actors of the Imperial Alexandrinsky Theater from St. Petersburg played the play “Spolokhi”. And in 1909, its own troupe of the Pushkin Theatre was formed, by which productions of Griboyedov, Chekhov, Krestovsky and other famous authors were performed, and charity evenings, masquerading balls, children's mornings were organized.

After the revolution, ideological rallies and city meetings were often held in the theater. It was the House of the Red Army and Navy, the House of culture of sailors. In different years, many famous actors and performers who visited Vladivostok on tour performed here. And in 1927, the famous explorer Raoul Amundsen performed in it.

For a number of reasons, the historic building of the Pushkin Theatre was in desolation for almost two decades. The theatre was revived in 1999. After the renovation, the building was returned to its original appearance. Today, the theater is experiencing a new peak of its popularity.

After the opening, the renovated Pushkin Theatre became the venue for many bright, impressive cultural events that allowed it to deservedly regain its status as one of the largest institutions of culture and art of the Primorsky Territory. Life again “bursts” within its walls: there is a chamber choir, dance ensembles, a music studio, exhibitions of artists, presentations and conferences. Residents and guests of the city again enjoy visiting this amazing building.
