Vladivostok Lighthouses
Description:
Of all the technical structures, lighthouses are by far the most romantic.
A lonely tower on a rock, the sound of the surf and a beam of light cutting through the darkness of the night. Guidance fire for distant ships, a welcome signal from unknown builders and unfamiliar caretakers of these lighthouses, erected in the most remote and inaccessible places of the planet.
The first lighthouses appeared about 4 thousand years ago in the Mediterranean Sea. At first, they were just fires on the shore, indicating a safe way for ships. Later they began to build special stone towers and make fire on their roof. There was a flame at night, a column of smoke in the afternoon. Probably, lighthouses were put on the shores of the Black Sea about 7-6 centuries BC in Hellenic cities - colonies. In addition to real lighthouses, there were false lighthouses built specifically to lure ships stranded or on reefs, and then plunder.

The story of the first woman captain of a long voyage - Shchetina Anna Ivanovna, we will visit the square of her name. We will find out what a lighthouse is and we will see one of them - the lighthouses of the Shkotovsky alignment. Learn the history of the lighthouses of Vladivostok: Skryplev, Basargin, Tokarevsky and Shkot, together they designate the “sea gate” of Vladivostok, into which no vessel can enter without their permission.
Lighthouse "Tokarev cat".
The most famous and most accessible to visit is the Tokarev lighthouse, located just 9 km from the center of Vladivostok. The lighthouse on the Tokarev cat is considered the point where the mainland ends and the sea begins, passing into the Pacific Ocean. Tokarevsky Lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses. It was founded in 1876. The lighthouse is installed on the tip of the Tokarevsky cat, departing from Cape Tokarevsky.
Basargin lighthouse.
Together with the lighthouse of Skryplev Island, it forms the entrance gate of Vladivostok. The lighthouse was created in 1937. Its first tower was a simple wooden structure. Cape Basargin - the south-eastern tip of the peninsula of the same name - steep, rocky and bordered by underwater and surface stones. In 1958, instead of a wooden sign, a stone prismatic octagonal tower was built 8 meters high from the base and 28 meters high from sea level.
Skryplev's lighthouse.
The lighthouse on the island of Skryplev is the first lighthouse of Primorye. Its construction began in July 1876. “The island of Skryplev with a height of 45.6 m lies at the entrance to the Bosporus-East Strait from the Ussuri Bay. The shores of the island are steep, rocky and bordered by surface and pitfalls. Of the Vladivostok city lighthouses, Skryplev lighthouse is the most powerful - its red flashing fire is visible for 20 miles, from almost anywhere in the Ussuri Bay.
With the passage of the Basargin-Skryplev line on the outgoing vessel, the countdown of miles traveled after leaving the port of Vladivostok begins. On the same line, the countdown of miles traveled by a ship in a voyage or in a hike ends. From now on, the ship is home! The ship is sailing through the Bosphorus East.
