Kazan bridge

Russia, Vladivostok, Verkhneportova Street.

Description:

Kazan Bridge in Vladivostok was built in 1928. This bridge became famous for being the first all-metal welded pontoon in the USSR.

The author of this innovation was Professor V.V. Vologdin. Much later on the same technology was built all-welded bridge Paton in Kiev.

Records in the documentation of that period indicate that in 1928 on the Shkota Peninsula in Vladivostok, four welders personally welded a bridge with a span of 25 meters in 20 days. The great advantage of this design was its economy. Unlike the standard riveted design, the all-welded bridge took 25% less metal.
