Oceanarium

Russia, Vladivostok, Batareinaya Street, 4

Description:

The Vladivostok Oceanarium is an amazing maritime museum, including expositions of aquaflora and fauna of the Pacific Ocean, warm tropical seas, lakes and rivers of the Far East, Africa and the Amazon. The expositions of the aquarium occupy three halls with a total area of 1500 square meters. A visit to this museum is comparable to a small sea trip. The museum collection of the aquarium contains more than 1000 exhibits, including sea shells, corals, sponges, fish and other marine animals. There are also completely unique exhibits, for example, the skull of a Steller cow, a very rare, considered until recently extinct mammal order of sirens.

The aquarium contains about 120 species of marine life. What interesting creatures you will not find in its shimmering blue windows! The implementation of the project “Vladivostok Oceanarium” was started in 1987 by a specially created creative group. The equipment was supplied by the Japanese company Nikhiro Corporation. The construction of the aquarium was completed in 1990 and its doors were first opened on Fisherman’s Day, July 12, 1991.

Currently, the aquarium continues to develop, painstaking work is underway to collect new material and expand collections.
