State Don Cossack Theatre

One of the many attractions of the Volgograd region is the State Don Cossack Theatre, founded in December 1992. This is the only theater in the Russian Federation, whose productions are completely based on the folklore and historical traditions of the Cossacks. It is located in one of the few surviving buildings of Tsaritsyn, where the Women's Gymnasium and the Guards cinema were previously located.

The history of the theater begins in early 1992, when its first premiere of the play “I came to give you freedom” took place. Since then, the talented troupe has pleased its audience with several premieres, which every year becomes more and more. The State Don Cossack Theatre has created its own style, its own creative traditions, which have developed and strengthened over time.

In 2006, he loudly declared himself at the famous theater festival "Compliment", held in the city of Novocherkassk, presenting his play "Hutorians". The next two years brought new victories to the theater - it was twice awarded at the international festival "Man Playing" in the city of Nikolaev, Ukraine. Currently, the State Don Cossack Theatre is actively creative and plays a huge role in the cultural life of the Volgograd region.
