Tulip Festival in the Republic of Kalmykia

Description:

The Republic of Kalmykia occupies a special place in European Russia – it is the only region in Europe where Buddhism is the main religion. Coming here from Central Russia, you feel in China or Japan. Firstly, the architecture of this region is very similar to the traditional Chinese, and secondly, the locals do not look like the “Aborigines” of the Tula or Yaroslavl regions. The endless steppes of Kalmykia in spring are covered with a motley carpet of wild tulips - fresh greens nature seems to paint with yellow, white, red flowers. To see how they wave in the wind and open under the southern sun, thousands of tourists flock to the republic.
