Between the Volga and the Don: a trip to the Cossacks

“It’s good to have a house in the village!” – you sighed, and I have already prepared for you a fascinating and very informative excursion between the Volga and Don rivers to the real Cossacks. After all, coming to Volgograd and not visiting the Cossack region is simply unacceptable!

The house itself is located on the territory of the Cossack estate of the late 19th century in the Ilovlin Museum of Cossack architecture and life - in the edge of the Quiet Don. You will not only be accepted with bread and salt, but will also be offered to become Cossacks after this rite of initiation, ride Cossack horses and taste Cossack cuisine to the incendiary songs and dances of the folklore collective.

The river called Ilovlya, beautiful nature and domestic wildlife will be a wonderful background for an educational excursion with immersion in the original and very rich culture and traditions of the Don Cossacks with their dramatic and ambiguous history. We will also visit Grandpa’s apiary and rope town.

Before and after the Cossack Kureny, you will listen to a tour of the great battles of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45 and the Civil War, see the remains of the Petrov Val and get answers to many questions. And when you are tired, but contented, and you are going back, you will say again, "It's good to have a house in the countryside!" ?
