Volgograd

Sightseeing tour "Ludnikov Island", HPP, Volzhsky.

Description:

Volgograd is a large industrial and transport hub on the Volga. Its fame as a labor city was ensured to a large extent by the giant factories of mechanical engineering and metallurgy. The history of some began before 1917, and the largest tractor plant in the USSR in the late 1920s. Under the STZ, an exemplary settlement for workers and specialists was built for the Soviet Union in the 30s of the XX century - a social city. On the territory of factories and their settlements in 1942-1943 fierce battles for Stalingrad took place.

One of the bright pages of the battle in Stalingrad was the defense of the troops of the 138th CSD under the command of Colonel I. I. Lyudnikov on a patch of land measuring 200 by 400 meters. The first stop on the tour route will be the memorial “Lyudnikov Island”, where you will see the place of the communication point and the monument to the communications officers of the Rolik group, the real ruins of the house in which the division’s command post was located. It will also be interesting to find out what the "House of Commissars" is, which houses of the village of Nizhny Barricades were held by the soldiers of the Ludnikov division, where the front line was held according to the schemes of the headquarters 138 CSD. Some of the walls of the residential buildings of the village preserved traces left by bullets and shells.

Next you will see the complex of Lenin Avenue and adjacent streets, created by architects in the 1950s and 60s, among which there are buildings that survived the Battle of Stalingrad. Drive through the Spartanovka neighborhood, learn why it is so called, as well as what the toponyms Mechetka and Mechetnaya mean, you will see the place where people lived 100,000 years ago!

You will see the impressive construction of the Volga HPP, the most powerful hydroelectric power plant in Europe. You will learn the principle of its operation and technical parameters, how to overcome the dam of the court and why you need an interlock hydroelectric power station, and from the observation decks you can make beautiful memorable photos.

Pleasant memories will remain after visiting the cozy, but at the same time large and modern city of Volga. Especially impressive for tourists is the grand building of the Volgogradgidrostroy DK and the adjacent park with Soviet sculptures, which creates the atmosphere of the “lamp” USSR.

And on the way back you will admire the beauty of the Akhtuba River, the richness of the floodplain nature and the view from the Volgograd Bridge to Mamaev Kurgan, the stadium and the park of the Central Park.
