“The nature and history of Don. Kalach-on-Don, Golubinskaya, Pyatimorsk is an individual car tour to acquaint tourists with the history and natural beauties of the Don.

Don is an ancient river. Together with the Volga is one of the largest rivers of the Volgograd region. For at least 400 years these places are known as the lands of the Don Cossacks. The banks of the Don are also famous for beautiful views and a variety of natural attractions, rich flora and fauna. From the chalk spurs of the high right bank, a picturesque panorama of the channel and pristine valleys of the Don, floodplain forests of the left bank, among which the vast territory of Golubinsky sands stands out.

Along the way, tourists will see an interesting natural object - the chalk residue "Witch's Fang", about 10 meters high, which is often attributed to some mystical properties. In addition, the valleys flowing into the Don extensive ravines and beams are the habitats of some species of birds of prey. This gives you the opportunity to watch their majestic flight.

The second part of the tour is cognitive. Tourists will be able to learn the history of these places, traditions, culture and life of the Don Cossacks, hear their songs. The tour program includes a visit to the exposition of the Kalachev Museum of Local History, which is located in an ancient merchant mansion. Among the exhibits of the museum are fossils of animals found on the banks of the Don, including shark teeth, as well as historical relics.

During the tour we will visit the memorial "Koroshev Kurgan" - the place of battles of the Battle of Stalingrad. As a monument there is a heavy Soviet tank IS-2. We will stop at the monument to the crew of the Soviet bomber Pe-2, who died in July 1942 in battles for the crossing at Kalach-on-Don.

Immerse yourself in the history of the Don Cossacks and better understand the life of their modern descendants will allow you to visit Golubinskaya - one of the first Cossack villages on the Don. Her yurt included 21 farms. In the village you can see one of the largest on the Don Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker - an architectural monument of the XIX century. Its restoration is now being completed. During the Battle of Stalingrad until November 19, 1942, Golubinskaya housed the headquarters of the commander of the 6th Field Army, Friedrich Paulus, and later the headquarters of the Soviet 21st Army, General Chistyakov. In the village Golubinskaya tourists will be able to approach the bank of the Don, refresh themselves or even swim.

At the end of the tour, tourists will visit where the Volga-Don Canal ends - in the village of Pyatimorsk, where they will see the arch of the 13th lock - a majestic architectural object in the Empire style. Nearby is a stunning monument "Connection of fronts" by sculptor E. V. Vuchetich - the author of the statue "Motherland Calls!".

Pyatimorsk is also known for its Russian State History Park. This park is probably the best in the Volgograd region! Its shady alleys will be pleasant to pass at the end of the tour. All alleys of the park have names and are decorated according to a certain historical era or theme. For children, the Alley of Childhood will be interesting, in which you can see a hut on chicken legs, Baba Yaga, Koschei, Snake Gorynych and many other characters of Russian fairy tales and Soviet cartoons.
