Description:

The idea of building a temple on the Mamayev Kurgan was born in June 1993, when Volgograd was visited by His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, who came together with Archimandrite Kirill (Pavlov), a participant in the Battle of Stalingrad. In the anniversary year of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Stalingrad victory, the Patriarch consecrated Mamaev Kurgan for the construction of a temple on it, so that people could put candles here in memory of the defenders of this height. In 1995, Patriarch Alexy blessed the construction of a church in honor of All Saints.
