Lake Tsatsa

Russia, Volgograd region, Svetloyarsk district

Description:

Tsatsa is the so-called drying fresh lake, which is one of the ten natural monuments of the Volgograd region. The reservoir belongs to the Sarpin Lakes system and is located at the foot of the Ergenin Hill. The uniqueness of the Sarpin Lakes is that during the melting of snow they overflow and merge with each other, and during drought some of them dry up. The area of Lake Tsatsa is about 10 square kilometers, which makes it the largest freshwater body among the Sarpin Lakes.

The shores of Tsatsi are overgrown with reeds, in which waterfowl and near-water birds live, as well as Uji and swamp turtles. The lake is rich in fish, there are karashi, perch, pike, linens, chicamas and other species.
