ooh Sovetskaya, 1, Kamyshin, Volgograd region, 403870

About the company:

You can get acquainted with the rich history of the city of Kamyshin in the Kamyshin Museum of Local History. It was founded in 1961, on the initiative and at the expense of local residents. After 6 years, the Kamyshin Museum becomes a branch of the Volgograd Museum of Local History. Its exposition is divided into 14 halls, each of which tells visitors about the local archaeological, animal and plant world, ethnic features of Kamyshin, as well as its climate.

Each hall is decorated with many household items, archaeological finds and photographs. Particularly interesting are the prints on the stones and the collection of fossils of ancient plants. And this is not surprising, because these ancient fossils, whose age exceeded several tens of millions of years, are located only in the Kamyshin Museum of Local Lore and have no analogues in Russia.

Kamyshin Museum is interesting not only for its exposition, but also for the building in which it is located. It was built at the end of 1901 specifically for representatives of the Zemstvo government and is a real work of art. The construction is made in the style of classical baroque with the addition of elements of Russian folk architecture.
