Volgograd Regional Museum of Local History

The museum was founded on November 2, 1914 and developed in close cooperation with the society of local historians. During the Great Patriotic War, the museum’s collections almost completely perished and began to be systematically completed in the 50-60s of the XX century. Currently, the museum has interesting collections used in the exposition, exhibition, cultural and educational activities of the museum. Thematic Weeks and Days, theatrical performances, museum holidays, competitions, quizzes, concerts, “live” exhibitions of exotic plants and animals: birds, breed dogs, cats, flowers, etc. have become traditional. Excursions to the unique exhibition of musical instruments are accompanied by playing these instruments. The museum has clubs and clubs, a musical living room, museum holidays and charity events for socially vulnerable groups of the population.

The museum has become the center of ecological education of the younger generation, where cycles of special events for children in the nature of our region are held. The regional society of local lore at the museum unites more than 200 local historians. For 14 years, regional local history readings are held annually, regional scientific conferences on topical problems of regional studies and the preservation of cultural and historical heritage are organized. As a result of the conferences, collections of scientific articles are published.
